Setting up your second (cheat) PC

The second PC — some people call it the cheat PC or radar PC — is the machine that runs Fave DMA and talks to your DMA card. Nothing from this guide is installed on the gaming PC. You do it once, and you are done until you reinstall Windows.

Before you begin: the second PC must run Windows 10 or 11, and the DMA card's USB cable must go into it. Still fuzzy on what the card, firmware and input device do? Read What is a DMA? first.

Step by step

1) Install the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable (x64) on the second PC.

2) Install WebView2. Windows 11 and most recent Windows 10 builds already include it, in which case the installer simply tells you so.

3) Grab the DMA (FTDI) driver, right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.

4) Reboot the second PC so the driver loads.

5) Connect the card's cable to a USB 3.0 or faster port on the second PC — blue ports, ideally on the motherboard's rear panel rather than a front hub. On the card itself, use the port labelled data, not the JTAG/programming port.

6) Start the Fave DMA loader. If it reports Failed to initialize DMA, fully shut down both computers (not just restart), wait a few seconds, then power them back on. If the message persists, check the system clock and work through the troubleshooting guide.

What comes next

If reads feel slow, move the cable to a different rear USB port; some chipsets share bandwidth between ports. A memory map is only worth generating if you hit connection drops or missing ESP — most setups never need one.
